Top Advisors Do This To Hit Their Goals

On this 284th episode of my Monday Morning Pep Talk, I will cover a simple formula I learned over a decade ago that truly sums up the foundational process behind how elite level producers and super achievers create momentum and consistently hit their goals.

Before I jump into today’s call, I want to remind you of my professional purpose: to help you, the full-service, full-fee Advisor, optimize your productivity and become the best version of yourself. Why? Because “Happy Advisors Sell More Real Estate.” I do that by teaching you how to handle the challenges and opportunities you face every day. When you can effectively manage the situations that arise daily in your business, you’ll be more productive and live a life that reflects the best version of yourself. My ask is that you listen as if you’re in a one-on-one coaching session with me, either in my office or on a call.

On last week's MMPT Episode #283, I introduced to you 10 guiding principles I use to run my life and business. Today, I want to cover in detail a bonus guiding principle which is so important it demands its own MMPT episode.

"Thoughts create feelings. Feelings create action. Action creates results."  This is the law of goal attainment.

This is my core guiding principle. It sits at the root of my outcomes — good or bad. If you’re not getting the results you want, the trail leads back to the thoughts you’re choosing to entertain every single day.

Every harvest starts with the planting of seeds. In this guiding principle, those seeds are your thoughts. What you plant, you harvest. Your thoughts create your level of enthusiasm and that level of enthusiasm creates the action. The level of your consistent, intentional action creates your results; the harvest.

Let’s break it down.

When you start your day with a thought like “I’m behind”, it creates feelings of anxiety, stress, and scarcity. Those feelings drive reactive decisions — rushing, skipping key processes, or avoiding tough but important conversations. The result? Missed opportunities and mediocre execution.

But if you shift that internal script to “I’m building momentum”, you feel calm, focused, and intentional. Those feelings drive better decisions. You do the work that matters. You focus on relationships. You move forward — even when things aren’t perfect. And that consistency leads to results. Becoming 1% better each day is real. You'll wake up one day and go "whoa, how'd that happen"?

This isn’t fluff. This is physics. This is cause and effect.

Thoughts from my Virtual Mentors

The phrase “You become what you think about” was made famous by Earl Nightingale, one of the pioneers of personal development. It’s a simple yet profound truth: the dominant thoughts you hold in your mind shape your beliefs, influence your behavior, and ultimately create your reality. Whether you're thinking in terms of growth or limitation, your mind will work to prove you right — so choose your thoughts carefully.

Tony Robbins says, “Where focus goes, energy flows.” He teaches that managing your state — your internal emotional condition — is one of the most critical skills in peak performance. And that state? It’s created by your thoughts.

Darren Hardy teaches that small, smart choices, made consistently over time, compound into massive results. But here’s the twist: the choices don’t just start with behavior — they start with your thinking.

James Clear, the author of Atomic Habits, says that "super achievers don't obsess over goals, they obsess over systems. They fall to the level of their systems and never rise to the level of their goals.”

And if you’ve ever brushed up against the Law of Attraction, here’s the real-world application: you attract what you consistently focus on. You’re not magically pulling success out of the sky — you’re creating it by aligning your thoughts, energy, and behavior toward the outcomes you want.

How to Apply It

Let’s get tactical. Here’s how you bring this principle to life this week:

  • Audit your thoughts. Take 5 minutes every morning and ask yourself, “What am I thinking about most often — and is it helping me?”
  • Choose your frequency. Are you operating from fear or from possibility? Abundance or scarcity? Energy matters.
  • Reframe when needed. You don’t have to believe every thought you think. Shift the narrative when it’s working against you.
  • Take action even when you don’t feel like it. This is where your discipline kicks in. Train yourself to act from intention, not emotion.

All things start with a thought — and a decision to execute in a certain way. That’s why your guiding principles matter. As I discussed in MMPT Episode #283, the guardrails you put in place protect your energy, your business, and your life. They’re the GPS system that keeps you headed toward your goals, even when the terrain gets rough.

This one — Thoughts create feelings. Feelings create action. Action creates results — might just be the most important guiding principle you ever adopt.

Lock it in. Revisit it often. And use it this week to show up at your best — not just when it’s easy, but especially when it’s not. It's Week 13 of Q2 2025 which means it's time to celebrate, reset and recommit. This MMPT was meant to challenge you to do just that after an extremely challenging quarter and start to 2025.
