Take Flight – Flight Control (The Mind)

On this 182nd episode of my MMPT, I will start a 7-week series on all things Mindset, Vision, Goals and Execution Strategy. In Take Flight V4.0, we refer to this as the "Cockpit" of the plane, the section of the plane that controls where you are going and how fast.

You do not have a successful life and business, as you define it, unless you understand what I will discuss about "the mind" on this call. I think you'll understand by the end of it that this topic is not up for discussion or that you can simply decide to opt out. "Quantum Physics" is essentially the study of how energy moves its way through nature at the most fundamental level. Just like "gravity,” you don't get to choose if it applies to you or not. It's nature. It's a law. This episode will be different from my normal style. I will take you through concepts that you need to know, first and foremost, as a human being. Further on in Take Flight V4.0, we'll talk more specifically about habits and rituals you can use to implement today's content. Obviously, I am not an expert on quantum physics, but I understand them enough to know that I need to use them in my life as a strategy to become the best version of myself.

I will share with you what I have learned since my real estate heart attack 15 years ago this very week. I've proven in my own life that all things start in thought, the one thing all religions and science agree upon. You become what you think about. The problem is that most people just go through the daily motions and emotions that they are experiencing and accept them. They don't understand the power of the most sophisticated computer processor ever known - the mind, that grey matter between your ears. With just a little bit of consistent intentional effort, you can use your conscious mind to control your subconscious mind (the computer processor). It's been compared to dialing a cell phone number of a person that you want to talk to in that moment. You pick up the phone, dial the number and that electronic frequency takes you directly to that person's cell phone anywhere in the world through a network of cell towers. Similarly, on a moment-by-moment basis, you are dialing a frequency. It's negative or positive. Either way, you will get the result that you input. By creating positive habits through mindfulness, meditation and manifestation techniques, you can use your conscious mind to program the subconscious mind. The brain's job is to protect you. It creates negativity and fear to keep you in the status quo. You need to use your subconscious mind to reprogram that level of danger, your status quo. The subconscious mind is habit-based and is in control of 95% of your life and bodily functions.

The late Bob Proctor, a virtual mentor and expert on this topic, stated that your mind is like a battery. It's got the positive charge end (+) and the negative charge end (-) and the goal should be to create a mindset that stays 51% positive to attract positive things in your life. The same is true if you are 51% or more negative, you will attract the negative. Again, you don't get to opt out of this. It's nature.

Let me define some terms you should know on this topic of the mind. Make them part of your Flight Manual. None of this content is mine, so I’m giving credit where credit is due and providing links where I can.

The Law of Attraction:  The Law of Attraction is merely a simple and unchanging universal principle. It is the belief that when we understand how to use it in our lives and apply it through practice, we are able to attract into our lives the things we intentionally focus on. Simply put, your positive thoughts bring positive experiences into your life, while your negative thoughts bring negative experiences. (Check out Mindvalley).

The formula for how to use the Law of Attraction (like dialing that cell phone number) is simple:

  1. Decide what you really want.
  2. Raise your frequency to match your desire.
  3. Open up to the possibilities and believe in them fully.
  4. Pretend you already have what you want–and enjoy the feeling!
  5. Persistence is key.

I like the definition "Thoughts create feelings. Feelings create the action. Action creates the results.” It’s a guiding principle by which I operate.

I recommend the blog on Mindvalley.com for a much deeper dive into today's topic.

Law of Resonance works hand in hand with the Law of Attraction. It states that when the vibration of a thing is projected, it will attract energies of the same resonance. However, if the energy vibrations aren’t on the same frequency, then one will prevail over the other.  Meaning, if you’re working on manifesting abundance, but on a subconscious level, you’re wired around scarcity and fears, then you will keep attracting scarcity and fear.

Law of Gestation:  The Law of Gestation states that every process needs to go through a period of time during which it is conceptualized and actualized. "You plant in the spring and harvest in the fall.” Understanding this law provides the needed patience for all desires to manifest. You have to let nature take its course. If you keep pulling the seed out of the ground to see if it is sprouting, you slow the process down and have to start over again and again. Patience is key.

Vibration/Frequency: The law of vibration means that everything (every atom, object, and living thing) is in constant motion, vibrating at a specific frequency. The whole idea behind this law is not only that we all have a specific vibrational frequency but, further, we can learn to adjust our vibration if we're caught in a low vibrational experience or scenario. The more you tune in to your own energy, the more you see how your vibes affect your entire experience.  Everything in the universe moves in a circular manner, not only in the physical world, but also our thoughts and desires move in a unique vibration frequency. Each thought and feeling has its own unique vibration pattern, and it will combine with those which possess identical vibration patterns. Our thoughts are connected to the rest of the universe, so if you choose to have more good thoughts, more goodwill follows through.

The Law of Cause and Effect:  Newton’s Third Law states that for every action force, there will be an equal and opposite reaction force, physically, verbally, or mentally.

Mindfulness: Mindfulness is both a set of techniques and way of living that makes you more focused, calm and creative. Mindfulness is the practice of controlling your thoughts and being ‘present’ in the moment with-out any distracting thoughts.

Meditation:  Meditation is a mental exercise found in all religions. In many types of meditation such as prayer or reciting mantras, the goal is to achieve an altered state of consciousness with an intention of connecting with a higher deity. Meditation is the practice of deep focus and deep thinking to gain a deeper understanding. Meditation should be looked at as a mind cleanse, a mind detox. 20 minutes of meditation is equal to 2 hours of deep sleep.

Manifestation:  Manifestation is when you consciously use your thoughts and energy (visualization) to attract what you want. It is the practice of knowing what you truly want in life, setting goals, and then repeatedly thinking of strategies in your head to achieve those goals.

I highly recommend the book Stress Less, Accomplish More - Meditation for Extraordinary Performance by Emily Fletcher. She describes beautifully the differences between mindfulness, meditation and manifestation. Another book that I highly recommend is The Code of the Extraordinary Mind by Vishen Lakhiani. My major takeaway from this book is the 6 Phase Meditation where 2 of the 6 phases are a gratitude phase and forgiveness phase. The 2 emotions that have the biggest impact towards a positive brain frequency. I talked about Kristine Newell's new book last week, The Habit of Grateful. She used gratitude to change her frequency from negative to positive. I've got my daughter, Lizzy reading this book right now. We meet every week for a daddy/daughter coaching session at her request and we talk a lot about these topics discussed today.

Reticular Activation System (RAS): The Reticular Activating System (RAS) is a bundle of nerves at our brainstem that filters out unnecessary information so the important stuff gets through. Your RAS takes what you focus on and creates a filter for it. It then sifts through the data and presents only the pieces that are important to you. All of this happens without you noticing, of course. The RAS programs itself to work in your favor without you actively doing anything.

Mantra/Affirmations: These are phrases that are positive self-talk that affirm the outcome you desire. You program new neural pathways that change your default vibration. I created an affirmation for myself in 2010 and used it to keep my frequency above the 51% when things were pretty grim. You may have heard it but I'll say it again:

"I am so happy and grateful that money, success and introductions flow to me in ever increasing quantities and from a myriad of different sources. My life is perfect. Every day in every way, I'm getting better and better."

Team, this is a lot to digest but it's super important that you understand this topic of the mind. Most importantly, I want you to realize that you cannot opt out of it or ignore it. You need to change your mindset on this topic, if you haven't already, from "woo woo" to "how am I going to commit to using nature as a strategy?" I could give you case study after case study of those I've talked who I've called out on their negative, stagnant energy and once they realized it and made changes, they saw immediate positive results. I will admit, the hardest thing I have to do on a daily basis is keep my mind right. I am in a position that helps solve problems all day long so I am around a lot of frenetic, negativity that goes with this industry. It takes some conscious effort to stay above the 51% line.

Many of you have operated at your best or are currently operating at your best when using mindfulness, meditation and manifestation techniques. All I know is - for me, at least - I need to maintain daily strategies to protect, improve and detox my mind. I’m not sure that anything else I teach in Take Flight V4.0 really matters if you don’t understand how "nature" impacts your reality. As we go through the next few modules, I'll discuss how you can integrate these concepts into your every day mentality. Mindfulness, meditation and manifestation strategies are critical in our daily lives and will be key to your ability to reach your goals and vision.
